Selena, the lead singer of the group, won two awards in the Tejano Awards of 1986: Female Vocalist Of the Year and the Performer. Selena Y Los Dinos gained notoriety and recognition afterward. They appeared on numerous Spanish programming on television including El Show De Johnny Canales Siempre En Domingo and Sabado Gigante.
